The mission of Community Association of Progressive
Dominicans (ACDP) is to promote and develop the physical, emotional, social and
economic well-being of the residents of Upper Manhattan, the Bronx, and New
York City by facilitating community empowerment through education, provision of
human services, and the development of individual skills and community
leadership. |
ACDP was found in 1979 and
incorporated in 1980 as the first non-profit organization to focus on the needs
of New York's Dominican immigrants and the communities in which they
live. ACDP began providing direct service and training programs in
1987, opening after-school, ESL and GED programs.
ACDP's programs are part
of an intergrated organizational whole. Togeher, the programs nurture and
challenge individuals and community institutions. They bring people
together by celebrating diversity and opposing all forms of stereotyping and
discrimination.
